eNOHRSIS - National One Health Risk Surveillance & Information Sharing eTool
Established in 2022, the NOHRSIS Platform coordinates surveillance and information sharing across Nigeria's human, animal, and environmental health sectors, bringing together federal ministries, national agencies, and international health partners under a shared One Health mandate.
The National One Health Risk Surveillance and Information Sharing eTool — eNOHRSIS — is a digital platform being developed to strengthen how Nigeria detects, tracks, and responds to health threats that span human, animal, and environmental health. It supports the broader vision of the National One Health Risk Surveillance and Information Sharing System (NOHRSIS) Platform, a multi-sectoral body established in 2022 to advance collaboration across Nigeria's health sectors.
Data Aid marked a significant milestone in July 2024 with the eNOHRSIS inception meeting, held on 31 July 2024 at the FAO Nigeria Office in Abuja. The meeting brought together members of the NOHRSIS Platform, including the One Health Coordinating Units of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Federal Ministry of Environment, and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, alongside partners from FAO Nigeria and WHO. Discussions explored sector-specific surveillance needs, key information flows, and how institutions currently generate and use surveillance data. These conversations are critical groundwork — ensuring eNOHRSIS is shaped by the real needs of the institutions it will serve, not developed in abstraction from them.
The engagement led to the development of eNOHRSIS for tracking progress and sharing learnings as the tool takes shape within Nigeria's health security landscape.
For Data Aid, it is a privilege to contribute to this effort and to help build digital tools that are collaborative, context-responsive, and aligned with national health systems.
